Safe Spaces, Strong Minds: Building mentally healthy workplaces together

- Palmerston
This lived experience–led workshop is designed to strengthen workplace and community wellbeing across the Northern Territory, with a focus on supporting veterans, neurodivergent families, and remote or regional workforces.
Drawing on my personal journey - as the wife of a veteran who served with the Special Operations Task Group in Afghanistan, a survivor of postnatal depression and inpatient mental health care, and the mother of a neurodivergent child living with ASD, ADHD, OCD, and trauma-related behaviours - the workshop offers practical strategies for creating safe, inclusive, and resilient environments.
Participants will explore how to:
- Foster a culture of care, inclusion, and psychological safety
- Build protective factors that support resilience and connection
- Recognise and respond to early signs of distress in others and themselves
- Strengthen community capacity to provide meaningful support
Delivered in a 3-hour format, the program blends storytelling, interactive activities, and collaborative planning. Attendees will leave with practical tools, localised action plans, and the confidence to support mentally healthy workplaces and communities - reducing stigma, increasing connection, and making early intervention part of everyday practice.
