October Business Month (OBM) will continue in 2020, delivering a succinct and relevant program of presentations, workshops and networking opportunities for small businesses across the Northern Territory.
In recent weeks, the Department of Industry, Tourism and Trade has been working closely with industry associations, peak bodies, key stakeholders and the Territory business community to adapt the OBM program to meet the critical and evolving needs of Territory small businesses.
To be able to deliver a program that supports Territory small businesses in the most effective ways, the OBM program will focus on giving small businesses access to local expertise and the latest practical business information and skills development to help owners, operators and employees navigate through the current economic and operating environment. The challenges around delivering events during COVID-19 and the increased time pressure also means that event partners will not be included this year.
The 2020 program structure has been refreshed and will be delivered as a roadshow across the Darwin, Katherine, Nhulunbuy, Alice Springs and Tennant Creek regions in a symposium style format. There will be an exciting, home-grown mixture of inspiring and educational events including workshops, networking events and masterclasses as well as industry focussed sessions.
While some aspects of OBM have changed this year, the foundations remain the same. OBM has supported small businesses for 26 years and will continue to provide access to events, designed to inspire and grow Territory businesses.
The official 2020 OBM program will be released in mid-September but for now, be sure to block out your diary as OBM heads to a town near you.
- Nhulunbuy: 1 and 2 October
- Tennant Creek: 7 to 9 October
- Alice Springs: 13 to 16 October
- Katherine: 21 to 24 October
- Darwin: 26 to 30 October.
Stay tuned for the official release of the 2020 OBM program in mid-September.
