SilkAir Competition 2017 - Terms and conditions

Your participation in the October Business Month (OBM) SilkAir Competition 2017 ('the competition') constitutes deemed acceptance of the following terms and conditions:

  1. By entering, you acknowledge that each entrant has an equal chance of winning the prize and the winner will be drawn randomly.
  2. The trade lottery permit number for this competition is NTL17/23. You can find further details on the NT trade lottery
  3. The promoter of the competition is the Northern Territory Government - Department of Trade, Business and Innovation (DTBI). DTBI reserves the right, at any time, to verify the validity of entries and to disqualify any entrant who tampers with the entry process or who submits an entry that is not in accordance with these terms and conditions. Failure by the promoter to enforce any of its rights at any stage does not constitute a waiver of those rights.
  4. To be eligible to enter the competition you must register to attend any OBM keynote event, complete the evaluation form and the competition entry form by 9pm on 24 October 2017. Following OBM keynote events, registrants will receive an invitation to complete the online evaluation form. When completing the evaluation form, you will be provided the opportunity to complete the competition entry form. If you do not complete the competition entry form, you will not be eligible to enter the competition. A valid email address must be provided on your competition entry form.
  5. By entering you consent to the promoter collecting your personal details and providing those details to the Northern Territory Government - Department of Trade, Business and Innovation and SilkAir (Singapore) Private Limited (‘SilkAir’). Post event, you will receive email updates containing information relevant to businesses of both organisations and you will have the option to unsubscribe from these updates, thereafter. All entries become the property of the promoter.
  6. Entry into the competition is limited to Northern Territory businesses and / or business people only and one entry per email address regardless of the number of events you attended during OBM 2017.
  7. Incomplete, indecipherable or illegible entries will be deemed invalid.
  8. The competition commences from Friday 1 September 2017.
  9. The prize winner will be notified by email. SilkAir decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
  10. The first valid entry drawn will win two economy class return tickets flying any location in the SilkAir network.
  11. Travel must be on SilkAir operated services from Darwin only and must depart from Darwin and return to Darwin, Northern Territory, Australia. All airfares are subject to availability at the time of booking. The recipient of this prize is responsible for all travel costs to and from the point of departure, accommodation, spending money, travel insurance, freight, excess baggage, meals, government taxes, airport charges, ground transportation and any other expenses. Payment for taxes and airport charges must be made by the winner prior to tickets being issued and are payable by cash or credit card only. Travel must be completed by 31 October 2018 and no extension of ticket will be allowed.
  12. SilkAir, in its sole discretion, reserve the right to substitute a prize offered in this competition for a different prize of comparable value.
  13. SilkAir reserve the right to redraw in the event of any entrant not claiming any prize. If any prize remains unclaimed or forfeited through ineligibility or otherwise, the promoter will conduct further draws, as required subject to any directions from a regulatory (or other appropriate) authority. Prize winner will be given a timeframe of 10 working days to acknowledge receipt of the prize via reply to notification email, failing which redraw will then be considered.
  14. If this competition is interfered with in any way, or is not capable of being conducted as reasonably anticipated due to any reason beyond the reasonable control of the promoter, the promoter reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to the fullest extent permitted by law:
    • to disqualify any entrant, or
    • subject to any written directions from a regulatory (or other appropriate) authority to modify, suspend, terminate or cancel the Competition, as appropriate.
  15. The name of the winner may be published and the winner may be asked to participate in any publicity regarding the competition.
  16. SilkAir may, at its discretion, disqualify an entrant, whether before or after the draw, if the entrant is from the same business, household or family of another winner.
  17. The prize winner will be advised on how the prize is to be delivered and / or collected.
  18. The prize winner agrees that the promoter and / or SilkAir accepts no responsibility or liability for any delay or failure to deliver a prize, or failure by the promoter and / or SilkAir to meet any of its obligations in these conditions of entry or otherwise. Where delivery of a prize may be subject to delay, DTBI will notify the winner as soon as possible and the DTBI will use its best endeavors to facilitate delivery as soon as possible.
  19. No prize can be transferred, refunded or redeemed for cash.
  20. The use of any automated entry software or any other mechanical or electronic means that allows an entrant to automatically enter repeatedly is prohibited and will render all entries submitted by that entrant invalid.
  21. The promoter (including its officers, employees and agents) excludes all liability (including negligence) for any personal injury or any loss or damage (including loss of opportunity) whether direct, indirect, special or consequential, arising in any way out of the competition, including but not limited to:
    • any technical difficulties or equipment malfunction (whether or not under the promoter’s control)
    • any theft, unauthorised access or third party interference
    • any entry, prize, or claim for a prize that is late, lost, altered, damaged or misdirected (whether before or after receipt by the promoter) due to any reason beyond the reasonable control of the promoter
    • any variation in prize value to that stated in these terms and conditions
    • any tax liability (including FBT) incurred by a winner or entrant, and
    • use of the prize.

  24. Public servants, employees and immediate families of the promoter, OBM exhibitors, sponsors, partners and speakers at the 2017 OBM events, and any of the agencies associated with this promotion are not eligible to win any prizes.
