Looking Out for Your Mates: On-site Mental Health Awareness Training

Event description

General Awareness Training (GAT), delivered by Mates in Construction, is a 45-minute mental health awareness and suicide prevention session designed to increase awareness of mental health challenges, reduce stigma, and reinforce that it's okay to talk about mental health and seek support.

Delivered in a group setting, the session provides practical guidance on recognising the signs that a workmate may be struggling and how to respond appropriately.

Sessions can be delivered at your workplace at a time that suits your team, with facilitators coming directly to you. Alternatively, individuals and smaller groups can attend one of our scheduled community sessions being held on the 20th at 3 pm.

Mates in Construction is a not-for-profit organisation that has been supporting workers across the construction, mining, energy and related industries for many years. Through evidence-based programs focused on mental health promotion, suicide prevention, early intervention and peer support, they have helped thousands of workers and workplaces build stronger mental health awareness and support networks. Their facilitators have extensive experience working with employers and understand the unique challenges faced by people working in high-risk industries and remote locations.

GAT is a simple yet effective way to create a supportive workplace culture where team members look out for one another, strengthen workplace connections, and improve morale, resilience and wellbeing across the workforce
