Melanie Daly is a passionate retail entrepreneur and the owner of Swank Shoes and Frock Star in Alice Springs. Swank Shoes was established in 1972 and purchased by Melanie's parents in 1994. After spending 12 years with the Department of Education, Melanie made a career change in 2019, taking over the business and relocating it back into the heart of town at Alice Plaza.
Inspired by her love of fashion and a desire to provide more inclusive clothing options, Melanie launched Frock Star after recognising a gap in the market for stylish women's fashion in extended size ranges. What began as a small clothing offering within Swank Shoes evolved into a dedicated boutique, with sizes ranging from 6 to 26.
Melanie's approach is built around 3 pillars: place, product and service. She has carefully curated footwear from more than 40 international brands, personally selecting styles suited to Territory lifestyles and ensuring comfort and quality. Her businesses are known for personalised fitting and styling advice, helping customers create complete looks that make them feel confident and comfortable.
As retail trends evolve, Melanie continues to adapt, expanding product ranges and embracing new technologies to better serve customers. She is currently preparing to bring Swank Shoes and Frock Star together in a larger Todd Mall location, creating an exciting new destination for fashion, footwear and personalised service in Central Australia.
