What started with a simple favour for a friend has grown into one of Katherine’s longstanding event businesses. Tegan Peirce is the owner and operator of Dragonfly Events, a full-service catering and events business built on hard work, adaptability and a commitment to community.
Tegan began her hospitality career as an apprentice chef at just 15, but Dragonfly Events came about unexpectedly. While working in real estate, a friend struggling to find a caterer asked Tegan to cater their wedding. She said yes, and demand quickly followed. Within 3 months she had left her full-time job and within 6 months she was employing staff.
Since officially launching in 2009, Dragonfly Events has evolved from weekend catering into a one-stop events business providing catering, marquees, party hire, event management, styling, staffing, bars, audio-visual equipment and photobooths across Katherine and remote parts of the Territory.
For Tegan, embracing change means listening to clients and continually adapting to what they need. She has expanded services, invested in equipment and technology and embraced digital tools to improve efficiency while maintaining the personal service her business is known for.
Community remains at the heart of Dragonfly Events. Over the years, Tegan has supported families through major milestones, provided catering during emergencies and given many Katherine high school students their first job.
After nearly 2 decades in business, Tegan’s philosophy remains fittingly simple: 'Say yes, then find a way.'
