Manapan makes beautiful furniture. The business, based on Milingimbi, 500kms east of Darwin, is a self-sufficient and self-funded company owned by Yolngu people, and supported by the Arnhem Land Progress Aboriginal Corporation. It now has a worldwide reputation.
Manapan’s beautiful boutique work, including some of the most striking boardroom tables in Australia, have been bought by many major corporations and institutions, such as ANZ and Monash University.
Local Yolgnu people create the furniture alongside leading designers. Every piece is unique - combining modern design with traditional Aboriginal beliefs. As Manapan says, “Our furniture has a story to tell.”
