Steve and Jan Baldwin are among the great business success stories in Barkly region.
They own one of the most eccentric places to eat, drink and stay in northern Australia – the Larrimah ‘Pink Panther’ Hotel - plus one of the friendliest, the Outback Caravan Park in Tennant Creek.
They are 490kms apart on the Stuart Highway. The Larrimah Hotel, which is painted pink and has a Pink Panther at the front, has a strong military connection, which Steve and Jan are promoting strongly.
Both Larrimah and Tennant Creek served as a vital rail-road link for the Australian and US forces in the Second World War.
The couple also provide accommodation and dining through the Outback Caravan Park and Top of Town Cafe to both visitors and locals, and encourage guests to try fossicking at old gold mining sites nearby.
Jan is a successful entrepreneur in her own right - she owns Tennant Creek Fuels, which has been provided aviation fuel and ground-handling services at Tennant Creek airport for 18 years.
Steve and Jan Baldwin will present at October Business Month in Tennant Creek.
Date: Thursday 8 October
Time: 9:45am to 10am
Venue: Karguru Training Centre, 65 Staunton Street, Tennant Creek.
