Tanya Heaslip has become a renowned author within a few heady years.
Her first book, Alice to Prague, is an intimate telling of her time as a young Territory woman in the beautiful and historic city of Prague in the Czech Republic. Her second book, An Alice Girl, was published earlier this year to great acclaim.
She grew up on a cattle station north of Alice Springs. Tanya had an unusual childhood, but life on the cattle station imbued her with an adventurous spirit.
“It was absolutely wonderful - a place of freedom and space. We kids ran wild, everywhere, bare feet, fearless. We made our own games in the creeks and the hills.”
It wasn’t all play - she was expected to put in long hours working on the station. Tanya, who is a lawyer, says those carefree but hardworking years taught her independence and responsibility.
Tanya Heaslip will present at October Business Month in Alice Springs on Thursday.
Date: Thursday 15 October
Time: 9:45am to 10:15am
