No Worries Gardening
You can hear Andrea’s story at the TIO Resilience in Business Lunch with Dan Pronk in Tennant Creek on Wednesday 12 October 2022.
A husband-and-wife team of entrepreneurs are proving that diversity can lead to business success.
Andrea Postrak and her husband Rick started No Worries Garden Service as a ground maintenance company in Tennant Creek in 1999.
They soon added plant sales and then a pet shop and reptile showroom.
No Worries started with little more than the family car and a trailer.
Customers soon started asking about plant sales.
“We were swamped, so we decided we give a nursery a go,” says Andrea.
The couple are proud of their success.
“We started the nursery business from scratch, initially with no financial support other than a business loan. We’re proud that we’ve been able to grow the business to what it is now.
“We’re succeeding because of great support from the public and having the willpower to succeed.”
Andrea and Rick later accessed a Territory Government Pivot grant, which enabled them to add the pet store to their garden centre and finish building the reptile room.
They also gained a Government grant under the Smarter Business Solutions program to make their business more energy efficient by upgrading lighting and air-conditioners.
“We intend to run the business for as long as we can and expand on what we have already built.”
