There is still plenty of business support outside of October Business Month

The Department of Trade, Business and Innovation services and supports Territory businesses and drives growth in the Territory economy. We work with business year round to develop and broaden the Northern Territory economic base by providing strategic programs and activities to support local businesses and industry to start.run.grow.

Whether it’s an innovative new idea, a plan to expand your business or help to reduce your energy bill - we’ve got something to help you at every stage of your business.

Business Upskills is a program of practical, hands-on and informative workshops facilitated by industry experts to help business owners develop and strengthen their businesses.

Held around the Territory throughout the year, Upskills workshops also provide the business owner with valuable networking tools and access to further support programs as your business continues to grow.

Upskills workshops cover topics such as:

  • Marketing
  • Finance
  • Management
  • Human Resources.

Many past participants of Upskills workshops have gone on to develop their businesses into award-winning, innovative and profitable ventures. You could also benefit by participating.

Aimed at established businesses, Upskills workshops are presented year-round across the Territory and are funded by the Northern Territory Government to assist local business to grow and prosper.

Plan, start and grow your business

Sometimes it is just knowing where to start that is the most difficult. The Australian Government’s principal business resource, business.gov.au, provides many templates and tools to help you start, grow and exit a business.

The business plan template and guide provides step-by-step advice on how to write a plan for your business. It includes templates for a balance sheet forecast, profit and loss forecast and expected cash flow.

The marketing plan template and guide will assist you in considering and developing a plan to market your business.
