Plan, start and grow your business

Sometimes it is just knowing where to start that is the most difficult. The Australian Government’s principal business resource, business.gov.au, provides many templates and tools to help you start, grow and exit a business.

The business plan template and guide provides step-by-step advice on how to write a plan for your business. It includes templates for a balance sheet forecast, profit and loss forecast and expected cash flow.

The marketing plan template and guide will assist you in considering and developing a plan to market your business.

Business Information Kits builds an information kit tailored to your business needs.

No matter what stage your business is at the Small Business Showcase from the Fair Work Ombudsman can help you understand workplace rights and obligations.

The department provides a selection of tools to assist you and your business:

A wide variety of business workshops are held across the Territory to assist businesses. These range from sessions aimed at helping you start a business to ways of developing and strengthening your business. The sessions are facilitated by industry experts.

Small business champions

If you are a Northern Territory (NT) business, Aboriginal enterprise or not-for-profit, you can get help from a small business champion.

A small business champion can help you identify the types of support your business can access.

You can also get support with networking, contacts, information, tools and resources.

Business Innovation Program
